Ladies Day at the Bank of the West Classic, Stanford, California!
Dates visited: July 2016
Imagine walking up to a tennis venue, as you gaze to the left you see a running track (which is next to the tennis facility). The woman you see running has long legs, listening to her music, and is gracefully gliding around the track. The woman running was Venus Williams. My thought was… this is going to be a great day! First, seeing Venus Williams, going to a great tennis luncheon with friends, and then watching professional women’s tennis matches!
The Bank of the West Classic is played by the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association), in Stanford, California at the beautiful Stanford University tennis facility. Palo Alto, California is a beautiful town between San Jose and San Francisco, California. If you like to watch women’s tennis, then make it a point to see this tournament.
Meet Play Love Tennis, a tennis event organization organized our tennis group’s tables at the Ladies’ Day Luncheon at the Bank of the West. I have gone to this event for the last few years (despite having moved back to the East Coast), and have always been impressed with the great organization, the luncheon, and of course the excellent tennis (there is not a bad seat in the house). Last year (and in 2014), our guest speaker was Venus Williams. She spoke to the group about her tennis experience and gave great tennis advice as each and every woman in the audience held on to all the gracious tennis champion had to offer. After the luncheon, we watched the ladies’ singles and doubles matches. A great low key, professional tennis event.
The Bank of the West Classic is a great venue to watch women’s tennis. It is a wonderful way to spend the afternoon or evening with your tennis group (and Venus) or with your family . . . what better reason to make the trip to California.
